"Aerial Dance"

Blu and Jewel's aerial dance was playful; slightly clumsy, but nevertheless playful and ever majestic. The danced together in the shallow spaces of the thick Brazilian jungle near the Amazon River. Their bodies weaved to and fro in the open spots, coming close together at times, and at others moving away from one another. The Amazon Jungle played its wonderful and curious roll, for as they flew from shade, to small openings in the canopy, and then back shade, the full spectrum of colors and shades that the jungle rewarded became present to them. In their flight, the colorful creatures blended with the flora to create an exotic image. Jewel's smile never departed her as she moved with her new partner in their wonderful courtship. She was clearly aware that Blu was still a bit stiff when it came to his flying abilities, but the female macaw wouldn't mind.

Her patience towards Blu came as a surprise to her though. She had always, since her first weeks of adulthood, thought that her mate would be one much larger, and far more agile than herself. Blu was of a decent stature, true, but she would never believe she would have fallen for a bird that could not fly. It was quite foolish to think that a bird lacked the ability to fly, but that was before, and Blu was now flying; or at least trying to do his best at it.

In their flight Blu would lose stability now and then, dropping without warning; but he would be quick to catch himself. Jewel had to tend a serious injury once, and in that instance he had tangled himself in a bunch of vines. Blu dusted himself off quickly though, and flew ahead on that they of the crash. Quick recovery from such an embarrassment must be a Minnesota thing, Jewel had thought.

Despite of Blu's lateness in flight, the two blue Macaws managed to come to a stop on the large mossy branch of a jungle tree. A large umbrella-like leaf came over them, and provided a wonderful shade. From this spot –which was their favorite spot in the deep jungle and away from Rio de Janeiro- all the wonders and beauties of the Amazon were at hand. Smells, sights, sounds and even flavors were present in this open and magical place. Blu looked to Jewel, coming to her side, and smiled.

"Sure was a wonderful flight," the young male macaw remarked in a panting tone. Jewel giggled slightly; the flight was very brief for other flights she had taken out of pure pleasure, yet her companion was left breathless. She nudged on Blu slightly, making him topple a little.

"Yeah," she responded. "It was." She quickly stood by his side, and brushed her petit beak against his shrubby and messy neck feathers. Blu shivered, and made a soft purr-like noise, bringing the female macaw to giggle even more. She had quickly come to figure out how much her companion loved being pet; especially around the neck. The human had certainly made it a whole lot easier to please the male macaw. A small rub against his body and he was down.

Blu moved away, but only to look at Jewel with a small smile.

"Jewel," Blu spoke again.

"Mmh?" Jewel asked, as she moved to his side to lay her head on his side.

"I love you," he said in a soft and pleasant tone. "I really do." Jewel smiled wider in return.

"I love you too, Blu."
